Description

The Jerusalem Cherry is a compact, bushy evergreen shrub that offers year-round ornamental value. Outdoors, it can grow up to about 1 meter (3 feet) tall, forming a neat mound of glossy, dark-green leaves that create a lush, tidy appearance.

In summer, it produces small, star-shaped white flowers, which are charming though modest. These are soon followed by its most striking feature — bright, glossy berries that resemble miniature cherries. The berries ripen from green to vivid orange or scarlet red, providing a bold splash of color through autumn and winter.

When grown outdoors in mild climates or during warm seasons, the Jerusalem Cherry adds a festive, tropical charm to patios, borders, and garden beds. Its fruit-laden branches catch the light beautifully, making it a favorite for decorative landscaping and container displays.

Full sun to partial shade.

Prefers bright sunlight for at least 4–6 hours a day.

In very hot climates, provide afternoon shade to prevent leaf scorch.

Maintain shape.

Encourage bushier growth.

Remove any yellow or dead leaves.

🍒Fruiting:

The fruit is toxic — ornamental only!
