Portulacaria afra is a graceful and soothing plant admired for its small, round, glossy green leaves and gently arching reddish stems. Its neat, compact growth gives it a calm, balanced appearance that adds natural beauty to any space. Simple yet elegant, the plant has a fresh, peaceful charm that makes it especially pleasing to look at, whether grown as a houseplant or shaped into a bonsai.
🌞 Light:
It prefers bright light. Place it in bright indirect sunlight or where it can receive a few hours of gentle morning sun. Too little light will cause slow, leggy growth.
💧 Water:
Treat it like a succulent.
Water thoroughly, then let the soil dry out completely before watering again.
🌿 Pruning & Growth:
Pruning helps maintain a compact, bushy shape and can be done during the growing season. Cuttings root easily and can be propagated into new plants.
🌼 Fertilizer:
Fertilizer is optional but beneficial during active growth.
