Papaya is known as the “power fruit” as it is used as a universal remedy for many health disorders and diseases. It contains beneficial enzymes and has a high antioxidant content. It strengthens the immune system, helps the digestive system and protects against free radicals.
Carica papaya or Papaya Tree has an erect branchless trunk, tall, and a palmlike head of foliage at the top. The trunk remains somewhat succulent and soft wooded, and never develops true bark. It is ringed with prominent scars from previous leaf stems and contains an acrid milky latex sap. They hang on short stalks in clusters directly from the trunk beneath the umbrella of giant leaves. Papayas flower and fruit simultaneously throughout the year.
Plant Care🪴
☀️Light:
Papaya grows best in full sun, which Qatar provides in abundance. Place the plant where it gets sun most of the day. Young plants may need light shade during the hottest summer afternoons to prevent leaf burn, but mature plants tolerate full desert sun.
💧Watering:
Papaya prefers soil that stays evenly moist, not dry and not waterlogged. Water deeply and regularly so the roots receive enough moisture, but avoid letting water sit around the base because the plant is sensitive to root rot.
🍃Fertilizer:
Because papaya grows quickly, it benefits from regular feeding. A balanced fertilizer or organic compost applied every couple of weeks helps support strong growth, flowering, and fruiting.
