In its native northwestern Mexico, this impressive plant (the tallest cactus species in the world), can live for several hundred years, and reach over 10m in height. When grown as a house plant however, it’s a much more manageable size. It has a columnar habit with ribbed stems, and as it matures it forms lots of tree-like branches.
