Bougainvillea is a vibrant and colorful flowering plant appreciated for its dazzling display of colorful bracts. These bracts, which are specialized leaves that surround the actual flower, create an eye-catching and often lengthy blooming season.
plant Care 🪴
☀️ Light:
Bougainvillea thrives in full sunlight, ideally 6–8 hours a day, which promotes strong growth and vibrant blooms.
Insufficient sunlight can lead to sparse flowering and elongated, weak stems.
In Qatar’s intense heat, aim for morning sun and some afternoon shade during peak summer to prevent leaf scorch.
💧 Watering:
Water deeply but allow the top 2–3 inches of soil to dry between watering.
Overwatering can cause root rot and reduce flowering.
Slightly reduce water during blooming to encourage more flowers.
🌸 Fertilizer:
Use a high-phosphorus fertilizer to promote flowering.
Apply liquid fertilizer every 2–4 weeks during the growing season.
✂️ Pruning:
Prune after flowering to maintain a bushy, compact shape.
Remove dead or weak branches.Light pruning encourages new blooms.
