Oh The Schefflera arboricola Melanie, also called the Parasol Plant, boasts glossy palm-like leaves adorned with vibrant yellow variegation. Its highly decorative leaves cluster in groups of five to nine, creating the distinctive shape that earned it the nickname “Umbrella Tree.” This plant is a breeze to maintain, grows quickly, purifies the air, and adds a touch of modern elegance to enliven any indoor space.
Please note: Schefflera are prone to stress after a change in location and leaf drop is common. Your plant should stabilise within a few months.
Blozem Hints đŸª´
đŸª´Prune back if the plant becomes leggy or too tall. Pinch out new growth if you want to keep the plant small and compact.
đŸª´Wipe leaves occasionally with a damp cloth to remove dust and keep your Dwarf Umbrella looking fresh and feeling fine.
đŸª´Got cold feet? Revive using use room temperature water when it needs a drink as the root system can be susceptible to cold water shock causing rapid leaf loss.
Light
Schefflera arboricola Melanie is best grown in bright, indirect light to partial shade. Insufficient light may cause leggy growth.
Watering
Water when the soil has become slightly dry.
Water thoroughly and allow to drain freely. They like to be moist but not wet. Do not leave sitting in water.
Humidity
Schefflera Melanie does well in normal home humidity, however, they will thrive in higher-humidity environments. Mist occasionally or relocate to the kitchen or bathroom for an added boost.
Feed
Apply a weak dose of a fertiliser once or twice a month during the growing.
Height & Growth Rate
The Dwarf Umbrella Tree is fast-growing in optimum conditions and can reach an ultimate height of 1-2m, but is easily trimmed to maintain at whatever height you prefer.
Air Purifying
Schefflera filter airborne toxins from the atmosphere and they are part of our clean air plant collection.
