Echinocactus grusonii is a magnificent barrel cactus, often called Mother-in-Law’s Pillow or Mother-in-Law’s Cushion. It is deeply ribbed, each of which is covered in creamy yellow spines. Woolly white hairs grow on the crown and cup-shaped, vivid yellow flowers may form on mature plants. An all round spiky ball of fun.
Light
This cactus needs plenty of bright, indirect light, with an occasional dose of sun – but avoid harsh sunlight as this may scorch the plant if it has not been acclimatised.
Watering
Allow the soil of your Cactus to begin to dry-out before watering. Do not overwater or allow the soil to completely dry out. Experiment to find the perfect balance for your cactus.
Humidity
The Cactus thrives in normal to dry household humidity. Native to environments with much wetter air, it is more tolerant to higher humidity than many other cacti.
Feed
Feed once or twice a month during the growing season.
Toxicity
Considered non-toxic, however the spines are sharp so please take care when handling.
Blozem Hints 🪴
🌿Overwatering can cause root rot and make your plant mushy. For best results, wait for the soil to dry-out before watering.
