The Epiphyllum, also known as the leaf cactus, is a unique and elegant plant with flat, leaf-like stems and breathtaking flowers. This exotic beauty is a real eye-catcher and brings a tropical vibe into your home.
Epiphyllum looks best displayed as a hanging plant.
Light
Epiphyllum prefers medium to bright indirect light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight as this can burn and quickly dry-out the cactus.
Watering
Water as the top of the soil starts to dry-out but there is still moisture at root-level. In winter, allow the soil to dry-out a little more between waterings. Do not allow to stand in water.
Humidity
High humidity requirements. Ideally suited to kitchens and bathrooms where they can take advantage of any steam generated.
Feed
Liquid fertiliser can be applied during the growing season, once a month or so should be sufficient.
Toxicity
Cactus is non-toxic and pet safe. But avoid pets eaiting it as too much can cause a stomach upset.
Blozem Hints đŸª´
đŸŒ¿Let’s get steamy! The Epiphylum requires high humidity so pop it in the bathroom to soak up that steam.
đŸŒ¿Stop the rot! Allow your cactus’ soil to completely dry-out between waterings as excess water can lead to root rot.
đŸŒ¿Hot-to-trot! The Cactus prefers to be kept in a warm environment, ideally no lower than 16°C, but is hardy enough to survive short periods of lower temperature.
