Kaka Fruit-Persimmon Fruit

Kaka, commonly known as Persimmon, is a beautiful fruit tree that produces attractive orange fruits with a naturally sweet, honey-like flavour when ripe. Its glossy green leaves create a lush appearance, making it suitable for home gardens, patios, and fruit-tree collections. The fruits are rich in fibre, vitamin A, and vitamin C. With proper sunlight, well-drained soil, and regular watering, this tree can grow well in suitable climates.

☀️ Sunlight: Provide around 6–8 hours of sunlight daily for healthy growth and fruit production. In Qatar, protect young plants from harsh afternoon sun during peak summer.

💧 Watering: Water deeply when the top 2–5 cm of soil begins to dry. Keep the soil evenly moist, especially during flowering and fruit development, but never allow water to collect around the roots.

🪴 Soil: Use fertile, well-draining soil rich in organic matter. A slightly acidic to neutral soil, around pH 6.0–7.0, is ideal for healthy root development.

🌿 Fertilizer: Apply a balanced fruit-tree fertilizer during the growing season according to the product label. Avoid excessive nitrogen, as it can encourage leafy growth at the expense of fruit production.

🌡️ Temperature: Persimmons generally prefer mild to warm growing conditions, but heat tolerance varies by cultivar. In Gulf summers, use temporary afternoon shade for young trees and avoid letting the potting soil overheat.

✂️ Pruning: Prune lightly during dormancy to remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Maintain an open canopy for good airflow and sunlight penetration.

🌸 Flowering & Fruiting: Flowers generally appear in spring, followed by developing fruits. Fruit production depends on the cultivar, tree maturity, climate, and pollination requirements.

🪴 Pot & Repotting: Choose a large pot with drainage holes. Repot into a larger container when the roots become crowded, using fresh, well-draining potting mix.
