The China Doll Plant, also known as Radermachera sinica, is a beautiful and elegant indoor plant with deep green, glossy leaves. Originating from Southeast Asia, it is an evergreen tree that belongs to the Bignoniaceae family. When cared for indoors, it can grow moderately fast and reach a height of six feet with proper care. It is also known for its air-purifying qualities and makes a great addition to any plant lover’s collection.
Light
Radermachera sinica prefers bright, indirect light. Place it near a window with filtered sunlight, such as an east- or north-facing window. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch its delicate leaves. In low light, the plant may become leggy and drop leaves.
Watering
The soil should be kept moist but not soggy. Water the plant when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch.
Humidity
Radermachera sinica prefers moderate to high humidity. Dry indoor air, especially in winter, can cause the leaves to dry out or drop. To maintain humidity, use a humidifier, a pebble tray with water, or group it with other plants. Avoid placing it near heating vents or air conditioners.
Feed
Liquid fertiliser can be applied during the growing season, once a month or so should be sufficient.

Height & Growth Rate
This plant has a moderate to fast growth rate in ideal indoor conditions. It can grow up to 3–8 feet(90– 200cm) tall indoors, developing a full, bushy shape. Regular pruning helps maintain its structure and prevents legginess. It’s best grown in a stable spot, as frequent movement or stress can slow its growth and lead to leaf loss.
Toxicity
China doll are non-toxic and therefore safe around children and animals.
Air Purifying
While not a top air-purifying plant, Radermachera sinica still contributes to cleaner indoor air. Its green foliage helps produce oxygen and can lightly filter out common indoor toxins, adding a sense of freshness to your space.
