The Raven ZZ Plant, also known as Zamioculcas zamiifolia Dowon, Jet-Black Raven or Black Zanzibar Gem, is a highly coveted variety of the popular ZZ houseplant. It boasts new growth that begins as a bright lime green color and matures into a striking deep purple-black hue – a real glam goth beauty!
The plant’s glossy, dark leaves are small but wide, and they zig-zag up tall, slender stems.
Additionally, the Zamioculcas zamiifolia Raven has the added benefit of air-purifying qualities, effectively removing volatile organic compounds such as benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene from the air.

Light
Zamioculcas zamiifolia is shade tolerant and is perfectly happy in a wide range of light conditions, from low to bright. Avoid direct sunlight however, as this may scorch the plant.

Watering
Water when the soil has started to dry out. This plant is drought tolerant so do not be afraid to let it go without water for short periods in order to avoid overwatering.

Temperature
The ZZ Plant does well in average to cool room temperatures, with a preferred range of 15°C to 24°C. This plant can tolerate temperatures as low as 8°C.

Humidity
The Zamioculcas zamiifolia will do fine in normal household humidity. Can cope with drier conditions for short periods if required.

Feed
Apply a weak dose of a liquid fertiliser once a month during the growing season.
Height & Growth Rate
The Raven ZZ Plant is a slow to moderate-grower, depending upon conditions, and typically reaches an ultimate height of around 1 metre.
Toxicity
This plant is mildly toxic.
