Alocasia Portodora – Upright Elephant Ear

The Alocasia Portodora is a very impressive Alocasia because of her thick stems and big, beautiful, green scalloped leaves. Her leaves can be up to 60 cm across, that is why they are also known as the upright elephant ear plant. This fast growing lady will fill your room in no time and will certainly give your room a real tropical vibe!

Thrives in bright, well-lit conditions, however direct sunlight should be avoided as it will scorch the leaves.

Alocasia do not benefit from shade, and will begin to suffer if light is too low.

Alocasia plants like evenly moist soil, but they do not like to sit in water. To avoid root rot, allow the top two inches of soil to dry out before watering.

Thrives in a moist environment with above average humidity. Ideally suited for kitchens and bathrooms and will appreciate a good misting.

Feed

Liquid fertiliser can be applied during the growing season, once a month or so should be sufficient.
