A tough and undemanding house plant, this Chinese evergreen is perfect for the novice or busy indoor gardener, who wants to introduce a bright splash of colourful foliage without having too much fuss and bother. The leaves are variously marbled in shades of reddish-pink, green and creamy white, so it really is quite eye-catching.
Light
Aglaonema thrive in most light levels. The lighter the leaf colour, the more light required. Plain, dark green varieties prefer near-shade, whereas the lighter, variegated types need well-lit conditions. Avoid direct sunlight.
Watering
The Aglaonema soil should be kept moist at all times. Do not allow it to dry-out. Make sure not to overwater as this may encourage root rot. Moderation is the key.
Humidity
Chinese Evergreens can tolerate lower humidity than some other plants, yet it will still appreciate your efforts to improve surrounding humidity levels, either via regular misting or using a pebble tray.
Feed
Slow release fertiliser once a month during the growing season.

Aglaonema is a compact form of Aglaonema which typically reaches an ultimate height of around 50cm, but is capable of stretching as high as 1 metre.
Toxicity
Considered toxic if ingested. Keep it out of reach of pets or opt for pet-friendly alternatives if you have furry companions.
